Name: Harold Adrian Russell Philby. He goes by Kim.
Door: Door Pass

Canon: Cambridge Spies
Canon Point: Mid E03 - 1941, just after Anthony has been appointed as art historian in Buckingham Palace and Kim is coming up in the ranks of MI6, then known as the SIS.

Age: 29
Appearance: Slim, 5'10, with dark coppery hair and green eyes. He keeps his hair neatly styled with generous amounts of product at almost all times, and is a habitual smoker. Kim's accent places him as being from the caste of old-blood, Eton and Cambridge men.

History: Kim was born into an affluent family and England's old establishment. He attended Eton boys' school, then Trinity College (a part of Cambridge), where he distinguished himself with his openness about his belief in communism as the only answer to the rising threat of fascism. It was there that he met the other members of the infamous Cambridge Spy Ring, and was recruited as an agent of the KGB.

Initially, Kim was stationed in Vienna, where he met and married fellow communist Litzi Friedmann, and when he was recalled to England, he took her with him. However, the marriage, and his ability to be open about his beliefs, were both short-lived.

The KGB valued Kim for the amount of trust the British establishment would place in him by merit of his birth and schooling, and decided that he would be more useful as a mole. He was told to divorce Litzi to distance himself from his 'communist years', and he reluctantly did; not too long after, Kim was sent to fascist Spain as a reporter, where he was ordered to present himself as an ally of Franco's regime and to write in a way heavily favoring fascism. His breaking point came when the Germans bombed civilians in the city of Guernica; Kim was forced to deny blatant German involvement to maintain his cover.

Shortly thereafter, he was slated to receive a medal for his contributions to the regime. His KGB handlers presented him with a gun and the order to take it with him and assassinate dictator Francisco Franco when he pinned the medal to his chest; it was understood that he would be killed during or shortly after - as well as bringing down those closest to him by association. Kim started to reach for the gun when the time came, but hesitated and failed to draw it in the moment of truth, unable to betray his friends or sacrifice his own life.

After his stint in Spain, Kim and his best friend infiltrated the Anglo-German fellowship, passing on the names and plans of those in positions of power who were sympathetic to Hitler's regime to his KGB handlers - and SIS, earning his place in the British Intelligence Services.

Personality:
Positive Trait: Principled. Kim routinely risks capture and death or torture because he believes in communism and antifascism to the point that he's willing to lay down his life for it, and his genuine belief in the equality of all people is apparent in the way that he treats service staff and the people below his socioeconomic stratum.

Negative Trait: Deceptive. Kim integrates himself into the Secret Intelligence Service and allows people to trust and befriend him while he deceiving them for years; he also has an emotional affair with a close friend's wife while acting as though that is not the case. He has no qualms about deeply violating the trust other people have placed in him if he believes there is a moral justification for it.

Negative Trait: Self-centered. Kim, while fervently devoted to a cause greater than himself, doesn't think about the consequences his actions have on other people. The emotional damage knowledge of his betrayal would cause other people isn't a concern for him, and he prioritizes his own needs and his friends over both of his (eventually ex) wives' - for example, allowing his best friend to stay in his home despite the tremendous amount of distress he causes her.

Negative Trait: Self-assured. Kim is clearly very confident in himself - having grown up conventionally attractive, wealthy, and in a position of privilege by merit of his socioeconomic class, he's never had much reason not to be. He believes he's ready to start going on undercover missions long before his handler does, and even arranges a way into the SIS without Moscow's approval or permission, confident that his plan will be accepted.

Powers and Abilities: Ordinary human, masterful spy. Understands very rudimentary Punjabi in addition to English.
