Kim's canonically a cheater, and threads with him have the distant possibility of flashbacks to him seeing people shot in the middle of the street in fascist-dominated Vienna. There is also a scene in canon in which a woman has sex with him while his stare and utter despondence make it clear that he isn't enjoying it and his consent is highly questionable.

Kim's based loosely off of a historical figure of the same name, though his personality and appearance (as well as some of his closest relationships) have been heavily fictionalized. I default to show canon for everything except for the childhood/family background it alludes to but doesn't explicitly address, for which I use the historical details that are nodded to. Because Cambridge Spies regrettably whitewashes and anglicizes James Jesús Angleton, I choose to reference him as he historically identified (brown and latino) whilst maintaining the fictionalization's personality, relationships, etc.
